Music has a unique way of capturing the unspoken emotions of the human heart. Today, I want to share a very personal milestone with all of you—a project that was born not out of professional ambition, but out of a simple, heartfelt desire to express myself through song.
As many of you know, my upcoming film “Ormathan Theerath” is currently in its final stages of production. While the movie features beautiful male and female renditions of the title track—performed brilliantly by Mithun Murali and Abhirami Rooparaj—I felt a deep-seated urge to lend my own voice to the lyrics I wrote.
Stepping Out of the Comfort Zone
I’ve never claimed to be a professional singer. In fact, I’m someone who usually sticks to humming tunes in private, often being told by friends that I lack the “technical perfection” or “sangathi” required for serious music [00:37].
However, this song was different. Having written the lyrics myself, I felt a profound connection to every word. I wanted to experience the “Director’s Version”—not as a display of vocal prowess, but as a sincere expression of a creator’s soul.
The Power of Encouragement
The transition from writer to singer wasn’t easy. I owe a debt of gratitude to our music director, Mithun Murali. Despite my hesitations, he motivated me to step into the recording booth, telling me, “Sir, sing with confidence” [00:45]. It was his belief in me that turned this “adventure” into a reality.
The Song: A Reflection of Memories
The lyrics of “Ormathan Theerath” speak of longing, silence, and the bittersweet nature of memories:
- “On the shores of memory, you will seek me…” [01:43]
- “Even as time passes, you haven’t forgotten me; every breath becomes a pain…” [02:30]
This song is dedicated to every common person who has ever had a dream that felt “out of reach.” I didn’t do this to become a playback singer; I did it to prove that if you have a sincere wish, you should have the courage to pursue it [01:04].
Watch the Director’s Version
I invite you all to listen to this version. It is raw, it is personal, and it comes directly from my heart. Your prayers and blessings are what keep me moving forward on this cinematic journey.
Stay tuned for more updates on the release of “Ormathan Theerath”!
